Bayelsa State Union of Great Britain and Ireland (BSU) is a non-profit organisation for people from Bayelsa State of
We are an association for the promotion and advancement of Bayelsa State and its people in Nigeria and overseas. Though we are British or Irish Residents, Bayelsa is always on our mind.
Bayelsa State is the wealth basket of the Nigerian Economy, with about 40% of Nigeria’s oil and gas resources generated from the state.
Bayelsa is at the centre of the beautiful Niger Delta that is situated right in the middle of the West African rain forest (WARF). With hundreds of creeks and rivers flowing through it, the Niger Delta glows with amazing varieties of trees, wildlife and fish. If the abundant natural resources of the state are properly managed, Bayelsa State will truly become a land of opportunities.
Some of the core principles of the union are to promote:-
- The economic and social development of Bayelsa
State and its people;
- The improvement of the standard of living of the people of
Bayelsa State and all those of the Niger Delta; and
- Peace and stability in the Niger Delta.
Bayelsa is a potentially great state and we want to do as much as we can to make sure that the state gets all the benefits that it serves as the nerve centre of the Nigerian Economy.
We hope that people (though not from Bayelsa) who subscribes to our philosophy will join us in working towards achieving our objectives.
